Morrigan

WARNING/FYI
This character's story mentions themes of slavery and drug use. The whole postapocalyptic setting is rather tough on many other subjects but only those are mentioned in the text (and planned murder. that's also there).

Setting of “Roads Untraveled”, a fan-made story set in the world of Fallout, New Vegas specifically (~10 years after the battle of Hoover Dam). It’s a postapocalyptic setting with new factions ruling what is left of the world, filled with radioactive wastelands, dangerous monsters and even worse people, with a few glimpses of hope and progress. Located south around the Salton Sea and Mexicali, at the American/Mexican border. Everyone is fighting for scraps, but it looks like some places have moved past the “apocalyptic” state of their world and new societies are being developed despite what’s around them.

Both NCR and Ceasar’s Legion are still butting heads, still fighting for their right to rule the land, but the location is more removed from the events of New Vegas. NCR has just started making their presence in the area with local gangs and other existing societies having more to say. The story follows two protagonists showing troubled viewpoints from both sides, while exploring their own insecurities and challenges (of which there are many).

(the story itself is on hold, written by monerelluvia and Adalbertus)

Morrigan is one of the antagonists of the story. Hidden from everyone’s view in the beginning, she’s been working in the background to create her own faction and use her influence to pose as the next great power to control the world around her. She’s sly, direct, and patient, commanding respect either through force, reason, or drugs, surrounding herself with just the right people good in all of those methods.

She used to be a slave under one of Legion’s high ranking generals (a Legate). She had access to books and general Legion intel as this particular warlord wanted to have a smart advisor at his side when he was ready to fight for the throne. Once the news of Ceasar’s death reached them, Morrigan plotted her way out of this arrangement, manipulating the situation in a way that the legate was killed on the way to the main Legion camp, while she managed to escape. From then on she accumulated as much knowledge and information and people she could to form herself a new raider faction, that has since grown exponentially, joined by ex-members of other factions, scientists, engineers, and local farmers who were persuaded to work for the cause.

She’s a charismatic master-manipulator who designed her whole image around a Celtic goddess, Morrigan. When enslvaed she managed to find a book describing pagan mythologies and this was one of the figures that inspired her. The book wasn’t a cultural goldmine in any respect, written quite stereotypically, and while she was surrounded by The Roman Empire cosplayers, she wanted to have a theme of her own. Her closest bodyguards are called Banshees and she tries to incorporate various celtic symbols into her work (the triquetra is often drawn on buildings where her people had visited or where they can congregate in the area).

Her gang is rumored to have synth birds as their watchers around the desert.

Morrigan's logo

Design: Very witch-y and meant to evoke awe and respect. Always wears black makeup on her face and a feather and rust crown on her head. The hair is curly and black (naturally blond, but dyed). Her arms are covered in black smears and her nails are always cut sharp. Her complextion could be slightly darker than on the references. She wears a bundle of raven wings on her back and a collar with raven legs, empty bullet casings and other rust she had accumulated for the looks. Her neck and wrists are covered in scar tissue. She wears a key that used to lock her in a cage while at the Legion.

The huge california condor wings are attached during speeches or other important events or meetings as she likes to be the visually most striking person in the room.
