Birthday DeLorean

The instruction book is…well… an actual book

It’s been a while since I posted anything, sadly mainly because of my lack of motivation to do so. Workload and real life events do tend to take up most of my time, whatever’s left is consumed by RPG sessions. Speaking of which, I have to write something about that as well. But that’s for later, right now I’m much more interested in sharing the awesome birthday gift I’ve received from my friends. They unwillingly reignited my long since abandoned obsession with LEGO.

I got this pretty little set – a Back to the Future licensed DeLorean time machine. It’s both my oldest and most cherished hobby, one of my favorite movies of all time and one of my all time favorites when it comes to time machines. It took me 2 days to build and one of those days was the day we got back from the birthday party itself. If it wasn’t for the fact that it was in a rented cabin with 20-ish people present, I’d probably start assembling it then and there. Alas I was told it is not a good idea.

At first it looked nothing like the real thing
but it quickly started to resemble the real thing
and the final product looks incredible

There were many options on how to finish it, all movie versions were included, the nuclear-powered first movie version with the lightning rod included; the MrFusion powered hovercraft from the second movie and the third movie train-powered version with 1955 mods. I opted for the second movie version, purely for the appearance and flight.

My girlfriend also got a 3D printed stand for it and once the model was ready she took a couple of pretty cool photos of it. You can see a couple of them below:

I love it so much, big thanks to everyone who got involved in getting it.
